DAVID LIU (30s), Chinese-American, is a local hood representing an international cartel that specializes in the theft and resale of confidential data. David and his thugs terrorize local businesses to further the ambition of the organization. They recruit a bright, young electrical engineer, MICHAEL CHEN (25) to steal a powerful high-tech chip that was designed by the firm that employs him. The chip, developed in conjunction with the U.S. Government and codenamed WEASEL, would allow the cartel to breach any network located anywhere in the world and acquire secret data without restriction.   

David visits Michael at home in LA’s Chinatown and attacks his family, including his Grandfather, YU-LIN (70s), when Michael refuses to hand over the chip to him. David’s thugs tear-up the home looking for the chip and to Yu-Lin’s distress, unknowingly toss a mysterious Sphere (that we saw an ancient king use to summon images during his rule) out the window. Michael agrees to give them the chip but can’t find it! David shoots Michael’s grandfather and father and kidnaps his sister warning him to deliver the chip or else.

JAMES YUEN (30s), Chinese-American LA Police Officer, and his partner, KELLY PIERSON (28), LA Police Officer, investigate the incident. They know it’s gang related, especially since no one will talk. Michael tells them that his sister is visiting in Hong Kong so the police won’t get involved. Meanwhile, FBI agent ALEX KOVAC (30), working undercover as a LA County Court Clerk, finds the discarded Sphere while searching around the Chen’s residence. Once he gets home he experiences something strange. Characters seem to jump out of his TV and interact with him! He discovers the Sphere is responsible for the phenomenon and uses it to his advantage.

James and Kelly get a break in the case when NORA MIAO (30’s), having witnessed the incident at Michael’s home, comes forward and files a report. Kelly and James place Nora under surveillance but David’s thugs manage to kill her. Kelly surmises that David is responsible and sets-up surveillance in Chinatown. The bad guys are about to get the jump on Kelly when Alex bumps into them. When they attack Alex he brings out the Sphere and summons ODDJOB, Goldfinger’s Korean Man Servant. The thugs retreat just before Kelly and James move in and rescue Alex who agrees to co-operate with them.

Michael finds Kelly and James interviewing Alex and confesses his involvement with David and that his sister had been kidnapped. They agree to help Michael who devises a plan to track David via his cellular phone. When David calls they are able to track him, but he learns of their plan and promises to kill Michael’s sister. They take what little information they have and track David to a warehouse district in LA.

Alex shows up when they are about to leave for the warehouse and Kelly tells him he can’t go. When Kelly radios in for a backup, to her amazement, Alex is given clearance to tag along! They descend upon the warehouse and Alex, using the power of the Sphere, incapacitates David’s thugs one by one. Unfortunately James betrays them and all are captured. Fearing for his sister, Michael sneaks into the warehouse and finds a laboratory. He discovers David had hired Michael’s co-worker, SCOTT BRENNER (20’s), to deliver and install another chip! When Scott realizes that David intended to kill Michael he stalls the operation and David shoots him. Threatening his sister, Michael acquiesces to David’s demands and installs the chip himself. James unknowingly gives David the Sphere who accidentally discovers its secrets. Mad with power, David threatens the destruction of the world if it doesn’t succumb to his rule. The Sphere, showing a consciousness, turns on David and communicates with Michael via the chip! David shoots and destroys the Sphere, but movie heroes appear and stop him. The Sphere cannot be destroyed.

Alex reveals to Kelly that he is actually an FBI agent keeping Michael under surveillance because of his involvement with WEASEL. David slips away from the police and runs up to the warehouse roof to board a helicopter sent for him by the cartel. Alex summons BLUE THUNDER and stops him dead. Alex returns the Sphere to Yu-Lin. When Michael enters the company boardroom to return the stolen chip he is greeted by the voice of the Sphere. He discovers his father and grandfather are members of the board and that his family are the true caretakers of the Sphere!
